City Hall and 'Brugse Vrije' Museum

The City Hall of Bruges, dating from 1376, is one of the oldest in the Low Countries of Europe. The Gothic Hall with magnificent 19th century wall paintings and polychrome vaults and arched roof is an artwork in itself.

In the adjacent museum one can become familiar with the theme 'Citizen and City Government'. The eye catcher of the "Brugse Vrije" is the monumental and decorative chimney place designed by Lancelot Blondeel in the 16th century.
